Frequently Asked Questions

Business Copiers Questions

How much does a business copier cost?

The cost of copiers for business varies based on speed, color capability, paper handling, finishing features, and expected print volume. Evaluating total cost of ownership is often more important than focusing only on acquisition cost.

What's the difference between a copier and a multifunction printer?

Today they’re the same machine. A modern copier, or MFP, prints, copies, scans, sends and faxes from one device.

Do you service the copiers you sell?

Yes. Our own local technicians handle installation, repairs and maintenance, and [toner can be included] in a service agreement.

What brands do you carry?

We’re the largest authorized Canon dealer in the area and also offer HP and Kyocera.

What is the best copier for a small business in Santa Barbara?

The best copier depends on print volume, scanning needs, security requirements, and growth plans. Businesses in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties often choose Canon multifunction systems because they combine printing, copying, scanning, cloud connectivity, and strong reliability in a single platform. Working with a local provider such as DocuProducts gives organizations access to responsive service, training, and ongoing support.

Copiers Leasing Questions

Why should I lease a copier instead of buying one?

Leasing preserves cash flow, provides predictable monthly expenses, and allows businesses to upgrade technology as needs change. Many organizations prefer leasing because they can obtain advanced equipment without a large capital investment while often including maintenance and support in a single agreement.

How much does it cost to lease a copier?

It depends on speed, color and monthly volume. Tell us how you print and we’ll send exact pricing.

What's included in the lease?

The copier, delivery, installation, network setup, staff training and ongoing service. [Toner and parts are included under our service agreement.]

How long is a copier lease?

Most terms run 36 to 60 months. We’ll help you pick the term with the best payment for your budget.

What happens at the end of the lease?

You can upgrade to a newer model, renew or return the equipment.

Which areas do you serve?

Ventura County, Santa Barbara County and the Los Angeles area, including Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Goleta and Woodland Hills.

Managed Print Questions

What are managed print services?

Managed Print Services (MPS) is a program where DocuProducts monitors, maintains and supplies all of your printers and copiers for you. We track usage, fix issues and ship toner automatically, so your staff doesn’t have to manage printers. You get one point of contact and one invoice for your whole print fleet.

How much can managed print services save my business?

Most businesses spend 1–3% of annual revenue on printing, and much of that is hidden in supplies, repairs and underused devices. MPS lowers costs by putting the right equipment in the right places, cutting wasteful printing and replacing surprise repair bills with a predictable cost. We start with a free assessment of your current print environment so you can see where the savings are.

What's included in a managed print program?

It typically includes device monitoring, proactive maintenance and repairs, automatic toner delivery, usage reporting and a single consolidated invoice. We can also add print security features to protect confidential documents.

Do you manage printers from other brands, or only Canon?

We manage mixed fleets, including Canon, HP and Kyocera devices, so you don’t need to replace equipment that’s still working well. As devices reach the end of their life, we’ll recommend replacements that fit your volume and budget.

Is managed print right for a small office?

Yes. MPS isn’t only for large companies. If your office has several printers, spends time ordering supplies, or deals with frequent jams and service calls, a managed print program can simplify things and lower costs. We’ll size the program to your office.

Managed IT Questions

What are managed IT services?

Managed IT services replace the old “break-fix” approach, where you call someone after something goes wrong, with ongoing, proactive IT support. We monitor, maintain and secure your network, computers and servers for a predictable monthly cost. That keeps problems from turning into downtime.

What's included in managed IT services?

Plans typically include network and device monitoring, help desk support, security updates and patches, data backup, and cybersecurity protection. We customize each plan to your business, so you only pay for what you need.

How much do managed IT services cost?

Managed IT is usually priced per user or per device, per month, depending on the level of support and security you need. We provide a clear quote after a free IT assessment.

Can managed IT work alongside our in-house IT staff?

Yes. We can serve as your entire IT department, or as an extension of your current IT team that handles day-to-day maintenance, monitoring and backups. That frees your in-house staff to focus on bigger projects.

How do managed IT services protect my business from cyber threats?

We keep your systems patched and updated, monitor for suspicious activity, and make sure your data is backed up and recoverable. Ransomware and phishing attacks increasingly target small businesses, so proactive protection matters.

Why choose a local managed IT provider?

A local provider can reach your office when remote support isn’t enough, and already knows your setup and your team. DocuProducts has served businesses in Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles County since 1997.
